Choosing Fillers

Before Injection

Important considerations for choosing the correct product is a patients skin color and ethnic group. One of the fastest growing groups of aeshetic patients is in Non-Caucasians. However, injection technique and filler selection is very important because these patients are prone to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

 

Puncture sites caused by the injection are the nost common sites for PIH. Therefore, fewer injections and product duration are optimal when dealing with individuals in this group.

They are fillers have been specifically tested on heavily pigmented skin and have been found to be safe. Thicker, more robust, structural fillers are better for patients with thicker skin. The thicker the product is associated with longer duration effect but the higher likelihood the patient has of lumping.

After Injection

Fillers are considered the “face lift” because of their ability to affect a lift in patients. The other patient advantages are minimal social downtime, filler complications are reversible. Potential vascular occlusions and tissue or vision loss have been reported but are exceedingly rare.
