All professionals should incorporate the microdermabrasion treatment into their practice. The microdermabrasion technology was introduced into the USA in late 1996. European estheticians have been using the microdermabrasion since the mid 1980’s. Microdermabrasion Is a treatment that uses a wand that sprays fine crystals or diamond tip to remove the surface of the skin resulting in a gentle abrasion or “polishing” process. The wand then vacuums the outermost layer of skin to reveal younger, firmer skin under damaged skin. Each treatment takes from 30 minutes to an hour. Microdermabrasion is an effectively painless substitute to abrasive chemical and laser treatments. This procedure does not require anesthesia, recuperation time, is relatively painless, and involves nominal risk. This is a non-surgical , safe, effective, “lunch hour” procedure. Gives the skin an overall fresh, healthy-looking glow. Effective on all skin colors and types. Excellent for skin sensitive to chemical peels and can be used effectively before a chemical peel, MicroLaserPeel treatment. Can be combined with other treatments in a medical office. Microdermabrasion expands the number of therapy options available to a practice. The consumables can be relatively low depending on the type of system that is chosen and is a great complimentary treatment. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. Does require multiple sessions and maintenance treatments. Patients with good skin tone will show the best results. A good skin care and treatment strategy is recommended to maximize the results. Treatment cost per session is anywhere from $60.00 to $125.00 depending on equipment, treatment area and technician. This treatment is an excellent “complimentary” service for a patient loyalty program. A licensed technician providing this procedure is required by Colorado State Law to have additional certified classroom training. The following are objectives that each participant will learn: Skin Analysis, Conditions, Contraindications, Micro-exfoliation, Treatment Procedures, Sanitation, Sterilization, and Safety, Laws, Rules and Regulations, Salesmanship and Occupational Safety and Health.
